The F-Zero Grand Prix is the seventh chapter of the story mode in F-Zero GX. It is unlocked by spending 50 tickets to purchase it in the F-Zero Shop after completing Black Shadow's Trap. In this chapter, Captain Falcon's objective is to claim victory in the F-Zero Grand Prix, a three-lap race against 29 other racers on a unique track set in Mute City.

Synopsis

Taking a shortcut through lava

It's the day of the 2571 F-Zero Grand Prix, and crowds and competitors alike have turned out in huge numbers. This year, a total of 30 drivers have entered, including the Japanese warrior, Samurai Goroh (who is surprised at the large amount of jeering he receives), the Emperor of Darkness, Black Shadow, and the defending champion and crowd favorite, Captain Falcon. As Falcon walks up to board his trusty Blue Falcon, Black Shadow taunts him, claiming that he "won't miss this opportunity to make mincemeat of" Falcon. Falcon simply brushes it off, as the racers start their engines and prepare for the start of the three-lap championship race around a specially-designed course around Mute City.

Despite the combined efforts of Black Shadow and Blood Falcon to eliminate him, Captain Falcon successfully defends his F-Zero Grand Prix title. As he is presented with the Champion Belt, however, Deathborn appears, having had enough of Black Shadow's continuous failure to defeat Falcon and claim the F-Zero Grand Prix crown. Black Shadow begs for forgiveness, but Deathborn is not interested, and annihilates him. He then introduces himself to Falcon as "Grand Prix Champion of the Underworld", and lays down a challenge to him: the two will meet the following day to decide who the ultimate F-Zero champion is.

Difficulty Changes: All the drivers become more skilled. Also, the race becomes longer (4 laps in Hard, 5 laps in Very Hard)

Trivia

  • The race in this chapter is scripted to always have a specific result: Black Shadow wins, followed by Blood Falcon in second. Black Shadow and Blood Falcon will always boost as necessary from the second lap onwards to lead the race.
